Distribution:Eastern USA.. Size:Usually 3" to 3.5" can reach 4". Temperament : It is a good tempered amphibian, can be housed in large groups. Hardiness: very hardy. Sexing: Males have large back legs,swollen vent and nuptial pads when in breeding condition. Food:Small insects, daphnia, tubifex worms. Housing :A 20 gallon aquarium will hold several newts.Provide plants and floating bark. Water: use only dechlorinated water, Temperature: Day 55 to 75f. Lighting: Standard aquarium lighting is sufficient. Heating:Submersible heater if needed.

Temperature: Day 55 -72f. Lighting:Standard aquarium lighting required. Heating:No artificial heating needed.
