	Parakeet DISTRIBUTION : Central Australia . Temperament :Friendly ,wishes to be included in family. Will respond to attention with talking. Sexing : At 3 months the male cere turns light blue. Females light beige. Housing : Cage 27"-14"-19" is large enough for a small flight cage. Smaller cages can be used ,but the birds must be allowed some flight time. Temperature : 50 to 100f .Should not be kept in a draft. Heating : No special heat source required. House temperature is okay. Hardiness : Very hardy. Lives in captivity for 15 - 17 years. Food: Balanced seed mix + mixed greens Water : Clean water daily and a bath bowl 2-3 times a week. Lighting : No special lighting required Notes : Birds sold in Colorado must have bands. When breeding they prefer a nest box with 1.5" hole.
