Located 3 miles north of CSU, The Four Winds is a boarding, lesson and training facility that services Northern Colorado.
The facility proudly accommodates a total of 31 stalls, 11 paddocks, 7 acres of green pasture, 4 spacious arenas, and 6 dedicated turn-out areas for your boarding considerations.
We host three horseshows a year, recognized by the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association, as well as clinicians and a day-long symposium on the overall care of horses.
We are primarily a hunter/jumper facility with a classical approach to training. We look forward to answering the specialized needs of you and your horse.
The Four Winds has been family owned and operated since 1975. Founded by John and Carole Throckmorton, it has been nurtured over three generations into the facility it is now. View our many boarding options.
Jasmine Throckmorton is the barn and show manager. She is available for any questions you may have about boarding that the Facility and Boarding page might not include! Please email or call Jasmine (email@example.com) to check current availability, or to schedule a tour today.
The Four Winds hosts three CHJA shows each year, in which the grandchildren fly in to help host! Steven Throckmorton runs our Hunter Gate. Robert Throckmorton runs the jumper arena. Jasmine Throckmorton is the Show Manager and Secretary. Steve's wife, Samantha, is the horseshow multi-tasker, while Linnea's husband, Joe, helps run the office. It's a family affair! Please see our Horseshows page for regular updates on dates, policies, entries, and schedules.
The training and lesson program was originally started by John and Carole’s son, Charles Throckmorton, who was a successful Grand Prix rider in the 80's and 90's. He is now a licensed USEF official, managing and course designing "A" rated horseshows nationwide. His daughter, Linnea Throckmorton, is the current head trainer. Please see our lesson and training page for more information on her program and philosophy!
We also offer Summer Camps, Clinics, and an Equine Symposium.
