The Four Winds has been family owned and operated since 1975. Founded by John and Carole Throckmorton, it has been nurtured into the facility it is now. Boasting 3 outdoor areas, an indoor arena, 26 stalls, 11 paddocks, and 7 acres of pasture, it offers many boarding options.
The training and lesson program was originally started by their son, Charles Throckmorton who was a successful Grand Prix rider in the 80's and 90's. He is now a licensed USEF official, managing and course designing "A" rated horseshows nation wide. His daughter, Linnea Throckmorton is the current head trainer. Please see our lesson and training page for more information on the current program!
John, or "Jack", still runs our tack store and is available to offer you his expertise on any tack and apparel - from old to new.
Jack's daughter, Kathy Throckmorton, is the barn manager. She is available for any questions you might have about boarding that our Facility's and Boarding page might not include! Please email us, or call Kathy to check on availability.
The Four Winds hosts three CHJA Shows a year, in which Jack's grandchildren fly in to help host! Steven Throckmorton runs our Hunter Gate. Robert Throckmorton runs the jumper arena. Jasmine Throckmorton is our Show Secretary. Steve's wife, Samantha is the horseshow multi-tasker; assisting judges with timing, jump crew with arena maintenance or the office with whatever miscellaneous tasks they need! Linnea's husband, Joe is our resident handyman whenever Charles is away, and he helps run the office at the shows. It's a family affair! Please see our Horseshows page to see when there will be another show hosted!
