2023 Horse Camps

Camps are offered for ages 7 and up.

Looking for summer activities for kids under the age of 7? We offer riding lessons in our Little’s Lessons and Beginner Riding Program.

Exceptions to age recommendations may be made pending instructor approval ONLY for kids currently enrolled in our riding program year-round.

Beginner Camp

June 5th through 9th

Our beginner horse camp is an immersive experience for beginner riders. During the camp day, riders will spend time expanding their skills handling their horse on the ground and in the saddle. We play many horse-related games both on and off horseback to reinforce learning in this action-packed camp.

Beginner camp is appropriate for students working on mastering the trot and canter. Brand new riders are welcome, but we encourage you to try a few individual lessons in our Beginner Riding Program prior to enrollment to make the most of your week at horse camp. Recommended for ages 7-12.

Advanced Camp

June 27th through 30th.

Our advanced horse camp is a special experience for kids and teens ready to take the next step in their riding. This camp covers advanced horsemanship and riding and is designed to prepare campers for all things related to horse leasing and ownership, traveling to horse shows, and more!

To sign up for advanced camp, riders must be current with involvement in regular riding lessons, and ride at a minimum level of cantering cross poles courses. School horses are available, and stalls can be reserved to bring your own horse. Recommended for ages 11-16.

What to expect during Four Winds Horse Camp

Pony Time

Our camp offers hours of hands on time with the horses. Kids learn to safely lead, groom, saddle, and clean up after their horse before and after their riding lesson. Extra time may be spent petting, braiding, and loving on the horses.

Riding Lesson

Each camp day includes a group riding lesson on one of our trusted stable horses. Camp lessons last a minimum of one hour, and campers can expect to learn to walk and trot (and maybe more!) during their week of lessons.

Horsemanship Games

Learning about horses is so much fun! We reinforce the information we teach about horses through physically active games. Campers will learn about colors, breeds, gaits, equipment and more!

Take-Home Treasures

Campers work with local art teacher to complete a crafts project to represent their time at Four Winds Horse Camp. On Friday, kids will display their keepsake for parents to see before they take it home.
