Compete with the Four Winds

Thinking about horse shows? We have opportunities at every level.

We believe showing is a great way to create progress and growth for both horses and riders at any level. Show opportunities depend on availability, so if you are interested in showing please let us know!

Practice Shows

We host a series of schooling shows throughout the summer for students to have a relaxed and positive first experience with competition. These shows are also open to members of our community. Our goal is to allow riders to discover a passion for horse showing while learning the formatting and expectations that accompany competitive riding

Local Circuit

Our local Colorado Hunter Jumper Association organizes a series of horse shows throughout the state. We typically attend about 10 CHJA shows between March and November for one or both weekend days, as well as a one-week long show in Estes Park each summer. These shows are geared towards riders competing up to the 3’ level, with a handful of bigger classes.

USEF/USHJA ‘A’ rated competitions

We attend 3-6 weeks of USEF ‘A’ rated horse shows throughout the year. These shows typically involve travel and overnight stays for one week at a time, at showgrounds in CO, NM, NE, AZ, or CA. We love the idea of a pony-cation and choose shows based on interest from show team members.

We like to horse show to learn and grow as riders.

Rather than training at home to try to focus on performance at the horse show, we approach shows as a way to find holes in our training and riding to work through and improve upon at home. With a positive, growth-oriented mindset, we encourage riders to have a healthy outlook towards competition. The great thing is that as you develop your skills as a rider, you tend to find success in the show ring as well!

Show with us.

“Competition is healthy in life. It is the only time in which you'll find tangible evidence of the strive to constantly better yourself. It is a positive thing to Learn also to lose. Just for the mere fact in life : you can always be better. I choose to compete with horses because while I strive to be better, they have always forced me to be honest with myself. And they have always been empathetic to that struggle for truth.” -Linnea Throckmorton

We are looking forward to the upcoming Horse Show season!

Four Winds hosts horseshows at our facility monthly from April through November. We also travel to shows, doing three to six weeks of USHJA Shows and at least one CHJA Show off property per month.

Please inquire about horseshow costs if you’re unfamiliar, as we charge differently for shows than lessons.

Please remember that any local shows you wish to attend, must be committed to at least 15 days in advance.

USHJA Shows require 30 days. These shows have entry deadlines.

We will not attend a show with less than three horses on a trailer. This can include the trainer’s horses.
